It is filled with history that Portuguese domain Quinta do Noval – conducted by Christian Seely (Managing Director) since 1993 and Antonia Agrellos (Technical Manager) – it reveals us its incredible potential. Founded in 1715, this 145 hectare of unique property benefits from a privileged location, nested in the Pinhão Valley, in the middle of the Douro Valley.
The Quinta do Noval House, the only house to have the name of its vineyard, distinguishes itself in the world of Naturally Sweet Wines by its asserted identity, by the quality of its port wines of which constant style has led to its reputation across the ages. Since 2004, Douro red wines are also produced there.
Its vertiginous vineyard on terraces is so distinctive that it gives both peculiar and magical atmosphere. The noblest grape varieties of Douro are planted here – in this luminous and very sunny surrounding – over schistose soils that are so difficult to work, and sometimes filled with clay. Plots of soils are spread between 100m and 500m of altitude and benefit from a 360° exposure. All these factors allow the wines of Quinta do Noval to express themselves in many different and singular ways.
Quinta do Noval Vintage Ports, rare wines; constitute an inevitable reference in the world of port wines. Synonymous with harmony, fineness and balance, those wines are delicate and elegant. Only grapes that have been carefully selected are allowed to be used into the production of those precious wines, only produced in the greatest year, at the maximum of 3 or 4 times per decade.
