The appellation of Canon-Fronsac is located on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Merlot is the predominant grape grown here, though some cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon are blended in. The soil is a rich blend of limestone and fossilized seas creatures.
Canon-Fronsac only produces red wines. They display a balance of delicate aromas of red fruits and spice when young, underlined by a strong and prominent tannic structure. With age, notes of truffle appear.
2015 in Canon-Fronsac:
Spotlight on the 2015 vintage: 2015 in Bordeaux started with an unusually mild spring. May, June and July subsequently were warm and dry, allowing the vines to grow rapidly. An even and consistent véraison occurred in early August. Autumn saw cooler, damp weather, helping build aromatic complexity and power in the grapes before harvest. The highly-anticipated vintage promises to be one for the ages.
