Spread over 600 hectares, Listrac is the smallest AOC in the Médoc. Its soils are a blend of clay and gravel. Cabernet sauvignon offers structure and power, with merlot providing its fruit-driven aromas. A smaller, though still important, percentage of petit verdot and cabernet franc are also grown.
Listrac benefits from several years of ageing, as they are powerful and tannic when young. Time reveals a rich, round texture and nuanced complexities.
2015 in Listrac
Spotlight on the 2015 vintage: 2015 in Bordeaux started with an unusually mild spring. May, June and July subsequently were warm and dry, allowing the vines to grow rapidly. An even and consistent véraison occurred in early August. Autumn saw cooler, damp weather, helping build aromatic complexity and power in the grapes before harvest. The highly-anticipated vintage promises to be one for the ages.
