The Weekend of the Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2016

The Weekend of the Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2016

For the fourth consecutive year, Millesima is partnering with the Union des Grands Crus for their annual “Weekend des Grands Crus,” which this year will take place the weekend of June 4th and 5th. This year the day dedicated to tastings will occur on Saturday June 4th, from 10am to 7pm in Bordeaux, at Hanger 14 on the Quai des Chartons, and will bring together the most renowned Bordeaux Cru tasters. For this, the 11th edition of the event, each visitor will have the opportunity to taste the best wines of 2013 (plus one other vintage, up to the choice of the 118 attending properties).

The Millesima team will be present at our stand, and will be available to help you buy the wines you appreciated the most during the event. Millesima will also offer various activities, like an open blind tasting. This game of “Guess the Mystery Wine” is always well-appreciated by our participants, judging by their enthusiasm! Last year, many of you participated in unmasking a Chateau Brainaire-Ducru 2004. This year, the prize for finding the mystery wine will be a large format bottle of the wine.

Furthermore, a photobooth will be on hand for you to immortalize your visit and allow you to take home a memory of the weekend.

The Grands Crus of Bordeaux 2013

Much has been read and said about the 2013 vintage in Bordeaux. This vintage, like many before it, is a vintage geared towards wine drinkers, offering excellent quality-price ratios and wines that are ready to drink sooner rather than later. Certainly, the vintage offered its fair share of difficulties to the winemakers, particularly for red wines. The best wines were made from the most carefully sorted grapes, particularly for the red wines. The result is representative of hard work and the best efforts of each winemaker. The red wines are fruit-driven, fresh, and supple on the palate. These are charming wines that can be easily and frequently opened with friends or at a restaurant. Some even benefit from serving right at cellar temperature, with a touch of a chill. 2013 was also an excellent year for dry whites and dessert wines. Among those present for this UGBC weekend will be top producers from Sauternes, Pessac-Léognan and Graves.
