Millesima Blog Awards 2018 – New Edition, New Jury

We are pleased to introduce the three distinguished personalities forming the core of our great jury for the Millésima Blog Awards 2018. This year’s jury comprises professionals from the world of wine, natives not only of France, but also of the USA.

A reminder of the three categories

  • Wine & Food Award: This category will include content about the combination of wine and food.
  • Wine & Travel Award: Articles in this category will discuss a specific winery, interesting wine travel experiences or discoveries in winegrowing.
  • Wine Reporter Award: This category is very open, with the only criterion being to report on wine. Articles will be judged according to writing style, originality and creativity.

The assessment criteria

  1. Remember that all articles must be written and submitted in English!
  2. The subject of your article must fit just one selected category.
  3. Therefore, the same article cannot be submitted for several categories.
  4. You may submit only one article per category, so a maximum of 3 articles per blogger.

Three personalities comprising an international jury

All articles submitted for the Millesima Blog Awards will be pass before the attentive eyes of three experts from the world of wine, who will elect 18 finalists in the first round. We will reveal these finalists on January 15, 2018.

Mastering five languages fluently, Marie-Louise Schÿler has lived abroad since early age. In 1983, she graduated from the International School of Saint-Germain-en-Laye in Paris, and in 1987, from Copenhagen Business School.  In 1993, she moved to Bordeaux and passed the DUAD (Diplôme Universitaire d’Aptitude à la Dégustation) with “Mention” from the Jury. She has worked among others as Communication Director for AXA Millésimes’ eight wine properties, forging press relations worldwide, while also developing wine tourism.

Since July 2015, Marie-Louise Schÿler is serving at the helm of Communications for the family-owned company, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, in charge of both their Châteaux wines and their Branded wines.  The company extends over some of the most prestigious wineries of the Bordeaux wine region: Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Clerc Milon and Château d’Armailhac but also Domaine de Baronarques in Limoux. The company also produces top branded wines, like Mouton Cadet, the number one Bordeaux brand in the world, and Escudo Rojo, from Chile.

Julien Miquel is a French wine blogger, consultant in digital strategy for wine producers, and qualified winemaker with experience making wine at top estates of Bordeaux and in many other wine regions around the world, including Spain, Italy, California, Australia and New Zealand. Miquel’s wine blog, called Social Vignerons, gained international acclaim when it was voted 2015 Best New Wine Blog in the World. Through engaging content on his wine blog and social media platforms, Julien has since established himself as a prominent figure of the global digital wine sphere. Jeff Burrows Jury Millesima Blog AwardsJeff Burrows – Food Wine Click!

Jeff Burrows lives in Minnesota. During the day, he works as an R&D leader for cardiac pacemakers in the medical device industry. In his spare time, he loves to explore the intersection of food and wine through his blog. Jeff enjoys wine-related travel, especially visiting the places where grapes grow and meeting the people pursuing winemaking with passion. Jeff is certified at the Advanced level in WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust). He was one of 6 worldwide winners of the 2017 Millesima Blog Award, and was recently shortlisted in the Born Digital Wine Awards. Through work on his blog, Jeff has collaborated with Whole Foods MarketMade in FrancePrimo Ceramic GrillsWine Pass Italy and with the #MerlotMe group of wineries.
